Laundry

Right now my entire family room is buried under mountains of laundry. Behind the one couch there are multiple piles of neatly folded clean clothes, on the other couch there is a stack of To Be Pretreated stuff and on the floor is a plethora of sorted clothes awaiting their turns in the washer. Just so you know, I thought I was really doing well with my laundry. I was doing a batch or two every day or two. I really was, I swear! Yet somehow when I went through all the bedrooms last night I found a ton of dirty laundry. I just can't seem to stay on top of it in any consistent manner.

This is not how I was raised, let me tell you. My mother is a Laundry Queen. Every morning we, her eight children, could put our dirty undies and pj's in the hamper and by the time we were home from school we would find our freshly washed clothes neatly folded on the ends of our beds. Unfailingly. I seriously have to ask myself how is the world my mom pulled off this miracle daily. It's not like she neglected the house-cleaning, the meal preparation, the errand running, or her personal projects. I wish I knew her secret. Anyway, I'm sure she wouldn't have blogged when her family room was covered in laundry, so ...

I so feel your laundry pain. I can never keep on top of it. It is my least favorite thing to do.

Your mom sounds like an amazing woman. My mom had a system too--she did laundry MWF and Saturday. We all knew to put our dirty clothes in the hamper in the hallway when we were done for the day, and on Saturdays we all stripped our beds and took our towels into the laundry room (there were nine of us). Don't ask me how she got us to do it, though, since the system was in place by the time I was old enough to notice.

Laundry is probably one of my least favorite parts of wife/mother/woman-hood. At least we can all comiserate (spelling?) together!

All you need to do Mend is move 3000 miles away and then you have to do all your washing, every single bit.
Which mean you find all the clothes slung down the side of the bed and you can just those. Really it works.
The thrift store thinks it's christmas

Mt. Washmore is a permanent landmark in our home. After seeing your extraordinary quilt top tonight, though, I would say that your laundry quandry is a small price to pay for such a work of art. It is absolutely beautiful Mendy!

I love you Mendy. My mountain of laundry lives on my dining room table (sometimes for DAYS at a time), a constant reminder of all the things I do BEFORE I ever get to the laundry :)

Can your mom teach and enrichment lesson in our ward? Heck I would settle with a personal phone call where she would share 1/2 of her tips. :-) It really gives me such peace to picture your couches covered with laundry.... makes me feel not so alone.
