23 Months Going on 16

This is just the fastest place to preserve this little gem.

Because I had to take Maia to the doctor yesterday, my little girls went down late for their afternoon naps. Mackenna was still sleeping at 5:20 p.m. and I thought I should wake her so she would go to bed for me two hours later! Anyway, when I opened her bedroom door, I saw her huddled up against the side of the crib, sucking on her fingers and squeezing her eyes shut. "Kenna," I said in my mommy-sing-song voice. Instead of happily greeting me as the one who would release her from her crib-prison, this was her irritated reply, "I trying sleeping, Momma!" I just thought that was more a remark you might here from a teenager at 8:00 a.m. on a Saturday morning than from an almost-two-year-old. It cracked me up.

Ethan is totally that way if I try to wake him up from naps. I often get "5 more minutes" from him, or "I'm trying to SLEEP" if I turn on the light. Aren't they funny?

Oh, that's precious! Caleb went down late today as well because of the doctor too. (We can only get him immunized during the Well Baby Clinic time, Tuesdays from 2 to 4.) I would so love to hear him talk to me! Still waiting, but he'd definitely let me know that he wanted to stay in bed:)

Be prepared for the future! She is trying to warn you.

Silly.

I love it! Preston would never do such a thing - even if he is still 3/4 asleep, if he saw me, he'd drag himself towards me, if Mommy is nearby, she MUST HOLD ME. "hold you Mommy, hold you" I sorta love it though.

She slays me.

Wow! If only my two-year-old would do that. Instead he SCREAMS for me when he's ready to get out of the crib. I guess you could consider yourself lucky!
