Play along!

So, here's a fun little game I've stolen (again).

Okay, as a comment on my blog, leave one memory that you and I had together. It doesn't matter if you knew me a little or a lot, anything you remember! Next, re-post these instructions on your blog and see how many people leave a memory about you. It's actually pretty cool (and funny) to see the responses. If you leave a memory about me, I'll assume you're playing the game and I'll come to your blog and leave one about you :) If you don't want to play on your blog, or if you don't have a blog, I'll leave my memory of you in my comments.

Okay, this will have to be going to your house for book group. I remember you telling your kids to get in bed, and I was thinking, you said that a lot nicer than I would have with my kids. You are such a patient mommy.

Also, I always enjoy your insights at book group.

Funny you should mention choir in your memory of me, because that's definitely my first memory of you. Your voice was so beautiful, and I was missing my alto friends from my old ward so much, I felt all cozy singing next to you :)

Also, I'd like to mention how you are always so generous with food when I am at your house. I never feel like my kids are hasseling you at snack time or lunchtime. I know that's probably not a big deal, but with big eaters like me, it is soothing to this mama's soul. You're the best!!

Mendy, Mendy . . . hmmm . . . It's pretty recent, but my favorite memory is when you told us the whole "pooped the tub" story. I just love the way you retell a funny story. It keeps me in tears!

Also, I think of you pretty much every time Jefferson gets dressed since many of his clothes are hand-me-downs from you. Thanks!

Oh Mendy, Cami is right that is the funniest memory!!! I was laughing at that story till I had tears in my eyes and my stomach hurt!! That book club night was awesome, with superb chocolate fountain treats too!!!

Also, I remember you last year being so willing to take Benjamin day after day during my crazy pregnancy. You even got him to take naps at your house!! That truly has got to be one of your "secret talents" Mendy!! I don't know how you do it, but kids sleep so well at your house!! :) Really I think everyone feels comfortable in your home because you are just such a generous and loving person!! :)

We were in the car on the way back from a Mutual event (why were we carpooling? I can't remember) and we were sharing acne stories. You said that Michael loved you even before you were able to get your skin settled, and I loved that. Just the way you said it and I can't recreate it here. I found much comfort in sharing bad skin stories back when mine was so terrible!

I remember the first time I met you. I had just moved into the ward from BYU. I was sitting on a couch in the hallway and you came to talk to me. You seemed excited to meet me and were very nice. I was dying to tell someone I was pregnant. For months I'd been wishing I was pregnant, and had been living in a ward where LITERALLY everyone else in the RS was pregnant (or had a newborn). Now I was in a new ward where I didn't know anyone, but I was dying to share my excitement. So, I told you--and even though I was only "5 minutes pregnant," as you said, you were excited for me. I appreciated that.

Even though I don't have a blog I have to share one of my favorite memories of you (I have a lot). O/K I will share two.

The first was when you, Maia, and I went shopping for a flower girl dress. You kept having to stop at every trashcan in the mall because you were pregnant but you kept telling me everything was great. You wanted to make it such a wonderful day for both Maia and I that you weren't going to ruin it with a "little" morning sickness. (Thanks for sharing that day with me and letting me be one of the first to know when you got pregnant with Marlee even if you didn't plan to.)

My other favorite story has to do with your baking. I remember sitting in your kitchen and the kids asking for a cupcake. It was about five minutes from dinner and they had already had 2 or 3 throughout the day. I was surprised by your answer, "O/K but just one more because it is almost dinner time." I know you love sweets and this just proved it. That of course is how I will always remember you (pushing the chocolate).

I have so many fun memories with you from when we were mission companions, roommates, and more recently from when we were living in Laurel. But the memory I want to share is one that we both love to re-live often -- Christmas of 1995 when we were on our missions. We were walking home one cold and snowy night, down because we had been "bunged" (stood up) again! Then we saw the man with the beautiful Christmas tree getting on a bus. We chased him down, shouting after him, and ended up getting on the bus just so we could find out where we could get a tree that lush and green. He told us he would bring us one the next day, so we arranged to meet him on our corner. We never did find out where that tree came from, did we? But the next day we were the proud owners of a beautiful Christmas tree that we brought up to our apartment via rickety elevator. That was a Christmas to remember, and I'm so glad that I got to spend it with you!

Also, I was hoping that you might share your "pooped the tub" story on your blog. I am dying to hear it!

Yes, the whole 'tub' story was quite good--and you are quite the good storyteller.

I like when I'm coming over your house for something and I get there before everyone else (I'm habitually early), and I get a chance just to chat with you and find out new stuff about you. You are just so fun to be around.
