My Joy is Full
Maia's been working on a new story and asked me to read the first four chapters. They are pretty cute, I must say. But my heart was filled with love for her when I read a sentence where she correctly used a semicolon. My barely-ten year-old girl is implementing my favorite form of punctuation in her writing. I can't contain my joy! I offer no apologies for my intense reaction; I am a grammar nerd.

I don't even know how to correctly use a semicolon.
What a crowning achievement in motherhood this must be for you!
I don't think you would be happy with my grammar abilities...good thing I'm not your daughter and Maia is!!! Go Maia!!!
Wow that is impressive, maybe she can teach me =) You are too funny Mendy!
Unbelievable, the only semi-colons I use are the ones Microsoft Word tells me to after they've underlined my sentence in green. Go; Maia; Go! hahahaha
The things that give you joy -- so funny. That is an accomplishment though. I'm trying to get Alec to put periods in his stories. She looks so smart in her glasses.
That is awesome she could teach me a thing or two!
Your Maia is such an adorable girl; she's smart, girlie, and always prepared to save her brother's life with a phone call! :) Way to go Maia!
She's a girl after my heart. Get her "Eats, Shoots and Leaves" for her birthday!
(Check your title, though, it will make you laugh.)
I thought semicolons were used to make smiley faces!!! See ;) ;) ;) Good job Maia.
Yay! I'm glad you found me! I can't believe how big your kids have gotten and how much they look like you. Is Maia in 4th grade this year? That is the grade I teach. Awesome job with the semicolon use. Did you teach her that?
That's awesome!! I love your love for semicolons!! Please don't judge my grammar flawed blog to harshly - someday I hope to learn to use punctuation correctly too!:)
What a proud Momma you must be! Maybe a future editor on your hands?
Wow! I was all excited last week when I actually used a semicolon correctly. Kirk is a grammer nerd so I was very excited to show him my great achievement; never knew I should have known how to do this when I was ten!
Way to go Maia!
From one English major to another, there's nothing wrong with loving a well-used semicolon. Perfectly placed punctuation produces profound pleasure for me. So does alliteration.
