A Good Deed

This week I pieced the above quilt top for a church service project. The women of my church in the area are making patriotic quilts for wounded soldiers. The quilts are taken to Walter Reed Army Medical Center in Washington, D.C. and given to the soldiers. I am really proud to be a part of such a worthwhile project. While I was sewing the top I thought a lot about all the men and women (and their families) who sacrifice so much for the benefit of others. This is one small thanks from one appreciative American mommy.

These blankets are beautiful! I've never quilted before so I had no idea all the work that went into these "simple" (as sister Johnson calls them) quilts. This projects is huge, but what an amazing gift!

That looks fabulous! I was helping finish the edges on quilts on Saturday and wow, it is a lot of work. My hat's off to the quilters of the world.

holy cow, you've been busy catching up on blogs! whew! I'm worn out, but will post my comments on this one. It's funny cuz for ever I saw that top 10 list and all of the sudden bam, here they all are! Good for you. YOu've been busy, offered up some valuable advise, I'll have to remember that when Devin starts, hopefully he wont.

This is a very nice quilt, good for you, i'm not a quilter so I commend you for taking the time to do this, the bookclub, the recipe swap, the card club, holy cow! is there anything you don't do?

That explains why Teense said your favorite thing to do is quilt! It's adorable and there is one soldier who will be a lucky winner. Now maybe you can learn how to make a hat.

Looks wonderful! Is there anything you can't do? (other than resist cookie dough?) Am I supposed to pick you up from the airport or anything?

You're quilt looks great. I have a brother-in-law going to Iraq in the next couple of months and I've been thinking of the sacrifices people have made for generations, and now, as well. It's amazing.

P.S.- I'm in Utah until the 23rd. Your schedule is probably packed, but my cell # is 817-217-6018.

Very impressive! I think many of us forget that there still is a war on and our soldiers still need support. Good for you!

Wow Miss Mendy. Although I differ in talents from you, and sewing is SO not one of mine, I am in awe of a real live quilt! Wow. What a labor of love. Blessings upon your head.
